The calculator

What is it?+

A regular scientific calculator in a Casio fx-991ES case, with a camera and WiFi inside. Point it at a problem, press a key, and the AI's answer comes back on its own screen. No phone and no app.

There are two processors inside. One runs the calculator. The other wakes up only for an AI request and is off the rest of the time, so the battery lasts.

Where can I buy one?+

The calculator is sold on pre-order on the Buy page: we make them in batches and ship by CDEK once a batch is ready. The shipping date is shown when you order; the terms are in the calculator offer .

We sell them ourselves, only on logarum.shop. We have no resellers, dealers or preorder sites. Sites at other addresses have nothing to do with us: don't leave your phone number there and don't send them money.

How can I support the project?+

On our Buy Me a Coffee page, by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Everything goes into development: prototypes, test boards, certification and the servers.

It's a thank-you, not an order: it doesn't buy a calculator, doesn't change your place on the waitlist and isn't refundable. Want a calculator? Leave your email on the Buy page.

How do I get started?+

It takes four steps and about ten minutes, and you only do it once. Video and step by step — in the tutorial .

Sign in to the site. Type your email on the sign-in page and tick the box. A link arrives by email. There are no passwords.

Put the calculator on your WiFi. See the question below.

Pair the calculator with your account. See the question below.

Take a shot. The first answer starts the free month.

You need the calculator, a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and an email address. You do not need a card or an AI account.

How do I connect the calculator to WiFi?+

Press MODE , choose 4 SETTINGS , then the WiFi row. Choose Find networks... , pick your network, type the password on the on-screen keyboard and choose Connect . When it is done, the screen says connected .

The calculator only sees 2.4 GHz networks. That is the hardware, and no setting changes it. If your router broadcasts two names, such as Home and Home_5G , pick the first one.

Using your phone's hotspot. On iPhone 12 and later, open Settings → Personal Hotspot and turn on Maximize Compatibility : without it the iPhone shares only 5 GHz. iPhone 11 and older don't have this switch: they already share on 2.4 GHz. Keep that screen open while the calculator connects: when nothing is connected, the iPhone stops showing the hotspot. On Android, set the band to 2.4 GHz in the hotspot settings. If it still won't connect, set the hotspot security to WPA2-Personal .

Networks that won't work: guest networks that make you log in on a web page (cafés, hotels, some schools), where the calculator shows WIFI NEEDS A LOGIN , and work or university networks that ask for a username as well as a password. Use your phone's hotspot instead.

The first settings row, Язык / Language , switches the calculator between Russian and English.

How do I work through my phone's hotspot?+

Turn the hotspot on once: the calculator keeps it while you are in AI mode and for 30 more minutes after you leave it. You can change that in Settings → Keep WiFi ( off , 30 min , 2 h , 5 h ).

On Android you can turn off the hotspot's automatic shutdown: its settings have a switch for that. Then the hotspot stays on even when the calculator is not needed for a long time.

While WiFi is held, the calculator does not switch off by itself, and an hour costs about 2% of the battery. The ON key switches everything off at once.

How do I pair the calculator with my account?+

Press MODE and choose 2 AI MODE . The screen shows a large five-character pair code . Type it on the Devices page of your dashboard. Within a few seconds the calculator is ready, and you do not need to press anything on it.

The code is good for 15 minutes. If it expires, leave AI mode and enter it again to get a new one.

How do I take a shot?+

In AI mode, aim at some text and press the shoot key.

While the screen says hold still , the camera spends about four seconds finding focus. When it says got it, can move , you can lower the calculator. About twenty seconds later the answer arrives, and ▲ and ▼ scroll it.

Every request is saved under History in your dashboard, with its photo, answer and price.

How do I choose an AI model?+

Press MODE , choose 3 MODELS , then a provider. Use ◀ and ▶ to flip through its models. Each one shows its price as a word, what it is good at and whether it can see a photo. [SELECT] makes it the model the calculator uses. The top right corner of AI mode shows the model in use.

How do I update the calculator?+

Connect to WiFi, then open Settings → Update firmware... → [CHECK] and press [INSTALL] . The update takes about a minute. See what changed in each version on the What's new page.

Payment

What is the free month?+

Each calculator gets one free month. It starts with the first answer and lasts 30 days or 300 requests, whichever comes first. During it only the basic models answer, and we pay for them.

How do I pay after the free month?+

You buy a pack of requests on the Billing page of your dashboard. That page also shows how many requests a question to each model costs. You can pay with a Visa or Mastercard card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The payment window belongs to the payment provider, and your card details never reach us.

Requests are taken only when an answer arrives; a pack has no expiry date. The details are in the payment rules .

Can I use my own OpenAI, Gemini, DeepSeek or Anthropic key?+

Yes. Add the key on the My keys (advanced) page and choose My keys on the Billing page. Requests are then billed to your account with that provider, and we charge nothing.

The key is stored encrypted on the server and never reaches the calculator. The site cannot read it back, so you can only replace or delete it.

When something goes wrong

What does the message on the screen mean?+
The calculator does not respond+

Press ON to switch it off and on again. Your WiFi network and password, the question you typed, the model, the language and the contrast are all kept, even if the battery runs flat.
